About FPSA
Founded in 1990 as the Florida Association of Public Service Students (FAPSS), the Florida Public Service Association, Inc. (FPSA) is a public service driven career technical student organization (CTSO) recognized by the Florida Department of Education (FDOE). As a CTSO, FPSA provides coherent and rigorous content aligned with challenging academic standards and relevant technical knowledge and skills needed to prepare for further Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics (STEM) education and careers in the criminal justice, law studies, firefighting, public administration and teaching assisting through career development events.
As an association, FPSA provide students with academic, general employability, problem-solving, technical and occupation-specific skills to meet the demands for a career in public service.
The Structure
The Florida Public Service Association, Inc. (FPSA) is a not-for-profit led by a Board of Directors with a State Director to run operations and coordinate the affairs of the association. Each chapter is self-governing and elect students to serve as officers under the supervision of a school approved advisor.
During our annual state leadership conference, students elect state and regional officers. FPSA prides its self on being a student-driven organization. Our State Officers provides student leadership on a state-wide level and our regional officer provide guidance on the local level. Each Chapter advisor is assigned to a Regional Advisor for assistance.
With nearly 1,400 members across the state of Florida, students compete in a series of career development and competitive events in the areas of criminal justice, firefighting, teaching assisting, public administration and much more.
Competitions are designed to be in alignment with the Florida Department of Education (FDOE) curriculum framework as approved by the State Board of Education.

WE ARE CO-CURRICULAR, NOT EXTRA-CURRICULAR
When integrated into public service curriculum, FPSA involvement is a co-curricular activity that is an extension of the student's learning experiences.
FPSA offers leadership programs and career development events that are reflective to the current curriculum standards and trends in the respective public service fields.
In FPSA, students are able to develop and enhance their soft skills and master the hard skills that community members want from their leaders and what employers seek from their employees.
FPSA teachers, advisors, trainers, and mentors are able to provide students with real-world application to the skills they learn in the educational setting.
At FPSA, we believe that students should be more than just workforce and career ready, they need to be public service ready as well.
